Finally! I am happy to announce my book on ubiquitous computing and NFC. It will be available from May, 27th 2010.

Here is the summary what you can expect from the content:

“Near Field Communication (NFC) technology has become increasingly important for ubiquitous computing. Florian Resatsch investigates the optimal strategies for developing and evaluating ubiquitous computing applications based on NFC. He draws on a variety of current theories on ubiquitous computing, human-computer interaction, and technology acceptance to propose an iterative process model (UCAN) for the integrated development and evaluation of NFC applications. Finally, the author offers a range of design guidelines for NFC applications in four categories: NFC technology, tag infrastructure, devices, and human factors.”

Hi there,

we have published a new paper entitled “RFID-based Media Usage Panels in Supportive Environments” at the 18th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) in Pretoria.

More information on the conference can be found here:
http://web.up.ac.za/default.asp?ipkCategoryID=8136

The paper describes a case study we conducted in a doctoral praxis. The idea was to use RFID chips to measure the media (in this case – journals and magazines) usage in the waiting room. We attached an RFID antenna underneath a table and equipped the magazines with RFID tags. Using this setup a 1/0 measurement was  possible and led to interesting results.

The correct citation of the paper is:

Koene, P.; Köbler, F.; Burgner, P.; Resatsch, F.; Sandner, U.; Leimeister, J. M.; Krcmar, H. (2010): RFID-based Media Usage Panels in Supportive Environments. 18th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), Pretoria, South Africa.

A big thank you goes to all authors.

If you attend the ECIS and want to meet with Philip, let me know and we set up a meeting. If you are interested in the paper, drop me a line.

The next “Internet of Things” conference is in the making and lined up at the Royal Park Hotel in Tokyo from November 29 to December 1, 2010. It is organized by the Auto-ID Laboratories at Keio University, ETH Zurich & University of St. Gallen and MIT. The focus will be on “IoT for a Green Planet“.

I am very happy to be part of the program committee. A list of all committee members can be seen here: http://www.iot2010.org/committees/

If you are interested in the internet of things, don’t forget to submit a paper and be part of this conference. All information is provided at their website: http://www.iot2010.org/
