I had the pleasure to give a talk at the MobileTech Conference 2012 in Munich last Tuesday. The theme of the conference was “Mobile Development, Marketing and Business”.
It was a very nice conference with many interesting developer talks and many attendees. I talked about Near Field Communication (NFC) “NFC – Quo vadis?”. The slides will be uploaded to slideshare soon.
In a short interview (in German), I stated my opinion on NFC and startups, Apple and interesting applications. The video is here:
the incredible James Cameron (No, the other James Cameron) recently gave me the opportunity to state some ideas on his weblog CamerJam.
I like his intro
The first MOBILE10 of 2012 is Dr Florian Resatsch, a very smart entrepreneur whose knowledge of the Berlin mobile startup scene is only matched by his boyish good looks (there are some that believe he is only 16 years old!). Below he highlights some great innovations coming out of Berlin.
I recently discovered that I actually changed my habits on information bits and pieces I collect for myself and those I share. Be it Twitter, SlideShare, Google+, Facebook or still Xing.com, this blog, Email, etc. the likes are high that on many channels information tends to be redundant (such as those sharing their Twitter content on Facebook, etc.). However, there have been enough discussions on that topic. For me personally, I have chosen to distribute content and the way I can be contacted according the following list:
On this blog: General stuff, posts about my speeches, a list of events I attend and links to previous events as well as materials shown during these events - http://resatsch.wordpress.com/
On Google+: It is basically my del.ico.us of 2012. All the links and articles I come across that have a relation to mobile commerce, mobile marketing, green energy, leadership, technology and geeky stuff are posted here - https://plus.google.com/u/0/115581644164424899458/posts - feel free to add me
On Facebook: Although I am connected to many people (around 730) – I keep it pretty private and informal. I share things from music to personal news (for example: we made a new finance round): https://www.facebook.com/resatsch
On LinkedIn: Most of my international business contacts have gathered here and so I am part of this network. I don’t actively post a lot of things, but my Twitter and Slideshare account are linked to it. So if we are connected there, you can save time in checking SlideShare – Feel free to add me if we have met a least once: http://de.linkedin.com/in/resatsch
On Twitter: Those articles that are really highly relevant and urgent – or news I would say is urgent – can be found on my Twitter account. I don’t use it too many times, but in that case I do not spam your timeline either – https://twitter.com/resatsch
On Xing.com: My primary contact source for networking in Germany. However I don’t post there a lot, but I usually reply all request within a day. If you need something, just ping me there - https://www.xing.com/profile/Florian_Resatsch
Last but not least, send me an email – you know where to find the adress
So much for this. Have a good start into the year – and stay tuned for the things that are coming.
I was happy, when I recently got an invitation from UDL Digital (www.udldigital.de) to be a guest in one of their shows. The show’s title was (in German):
“Wie kann man das kreative Potenzial Deutschlands besser nutzen?” (How can you make better use of the creative potential of Germany?)
Cornelia Pieper, State Minister in the German Foreign Office, was discussing with me on that subject. Cherno Jobatey (www.cherno-jobatey.de/) moderated the show.
I thought the topic was quite interesting. Especially in the creative industries, Startups suffer from the amount of good people to fill open job positions. Try to find someone with experience in Online Marketing, or a half-senior Sales guy who even should have a few contacts himself, or a good graphic designer, a Ruby developer, etc. pp. – there are many challenges in how to shape Germany as a very good location for startups and established companies in the problem space “Creative”.
For those of you who don’t speak German, sorry for posting the German video. My main points were:
How can you enable public schools and universities to keep up with private instituions who seem to have or create more entrepreneurial skills and mindsets?
What are the technological foundations (even in pre-school) we need to establish in Germany?
How do we avoid to discuss the “amount of VC money” in the market and the possibilities in the silicon valley with regards to the awesome companies built in Germany?
What about the culture of failure? Will this be widely accepted?
What kind of money is in the German market and ho do you actually prove you doing something when the focus is on the draft and proposal instead of results….
after a successful launch of dealomio this year in September we have seen a good uptake in user numbers and publishers for our offers.
Our new partners www.barcoo.com, www.klicktel.de, and www.sparwelt.de help us spread interesting deals into a users current location. We have more partners lined up and aim to provide a big reach for our customers.
The biggest campaign we had so far showed superb results – more than 60% additional revenues for the client.
To give you an idea on dealomio right now, I have added this presentation to slideshare – it is in German. If you need an English version just contact me.
After a year of succesfully developing www.friendticker.com we decided to add another location-based service to the portfolio of www.servtag.com: DEALOMIO.
We launch the service September 1st in Germany. Other countries will follow within the next 2 weeks. If you are interested in press information, please send an email to pvr ‘at’ servtag dot com.
I was always fascinated by the opportunities of technology to change our shopping experiences. From the incredibly slow payment process at the cashier to the exhaustive logistics for the consumer … potentially smartphones could change a lot of the hassle.
When we published the article “Do Point of Sale RFID-Based Information Services Make a Difference? Analyzing Consumer Perceptions for Designing Smart Product Information Services in Retail Business” (Quote: http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1451520) we thought about a way how RFID could change the gathering of information about a product prior of or during a purchase. Our main statement included product categories that could be interesting for such “scans” (using either barcodes or NFC). We used a portfolio showing electronic devices in the top field of “most likely products to be scanned to gather information”. Compared to actual scan trends as shown in the barcoo iPhone app (www.barcoo.de – one of the most popular product scan apps), also groceries are interesting to the user. Barcoo confirms, that, if kept simple, the idea of scanning a product, getting information and potentially even purchase it – is appealing to the people. However, 4 to 5 years ago, the scanning process was not easy, product data was not widespread, mobile internet was slow, cheap data rates non existent and people haven’t had so-called smartphones (iPhones, Android devices).
But now is the time: All in all a so-called sample store would become possible, in which people just scan products–no matter which technology they use–to either purchase them or get more information. Just recently I stumpled upon this amazing video from Korea (via Sven Wiesner – post on google+) in which the scanning process is in the center of the shopping activity:
I usually don’t blog about events, but this time it is worth it. At least to make you aware of upcoming events you should attend.
I had the chance to be a speaker at Infopark’siico 2011 event (on Twitter) last week. I was very surprised of the quality of speakers and especially of the networking opportunities. The whole event (2 days and a day of workshops) was very well organized and had a nice (less web2.0) atmosphere. You can think of a Web2.0 event with people attending that have actual budgets.
The event is rather unknown among the Social Media Boheme, but it is worth going. Mainly because you get to know people you will not meet at the “classic” events and because you can talk business instantly.
In the next weeks, I will be talking about mobile couponing, mobile and location-based marketing at various events. If you plan to attend, let me know and we can have a chat.
Data Enrichment – Machen Sie Ihre Daten durch den Einsatz von Location-based Services spannender!, vdav Branchentreff, http://vdav.de/ in Berlin, 24. – 25.05.2011
Involved were also Olaf Jacobi (Target Partners), Rayk Reitenbach (IBB), Yair Re’em (HPV), Maximilian Claussen (Earlybird Venture Capital), Dr. Wolfgang Krause (seventure), as well as Marcel Pirlich (adspert), Stephan Bayer (sofatutor) und Sebastian Funke (sMeet). The event was moderated by Peter Guggi.
Thank you to everyone, especially Stefan and Philipp for the organization.
